Maurits (1981) commenced as a hydrologist and PhD researcher at WaterWatch in October 2006. Maurits had already been working at WaterWatch since March 2006 on his MSc thesis, which was related to the regional distribution of routine weather parameters. He developed a new innovative approach to interpolate meteorological station data, resulting in a physical based worldwide applicable extrapolation model: MeteoLook. Maurits’ great performance during his MSc research - with appreciation from TU-Delft and KNMI - prompted us to offer him a position. He obtained a MSc from Delft University at the Department of Civil Engineering & Geosciences in August 2006. His BSc thesis was on rainfall-runoff relations for the Attert River in Luxembourg. His practical work was conducted in the North-East of Tanzania, investigating the decreasing flow pattern of the Makanya River. Since January 2009 Maurits is Deputy Director of WaterWatch.
